The wood was sanded to smooth perfection and carefully polished with our Silken Spindle all natural non-toxic wood balm. ~Drop spindle weighs approximately 2.5 ounces. Our heavy weight ceramic drop spindles offer a unique spinning experience. With the ceramic whorl weighing more than traditional wood spindles, you get a superior spin, the perfectly balanced heft adds speed and precision to your spin.
FREE WOOD BALM SAMPLE
My all natural handcrafted wood balm leaves any wooden item feeling silky smooth and sealed under a natural protective layer. Perfect for using on your drop spindles, wooden knitting needles or crochet hooks, spinning wheels, weaving looms, or any other wooden tool (or furniture!) in your home. The natural oil in the balm nourishes the wood while the beeswax provides a glossy moisture proof seal. I've also added Lavender, Rosemary, and Lemongrass Essential Oils to the balm, so it is naturally antibacterial as well as repellent to any moths or other yucky insects that may try to come near your yarn or fiber stash! We really can’t see a downside to this balm- In addition to it being 100% natural, it smells amazing and is completely non-toxic and skin safe (unlike most harsh chemical wood polishes).

We recommend this drop spindle for a more experienced hand spinner, or else used above a soft surface (such as a carpet) while learning, since the ceramic whorl, while very sturdy, can possibly break if dropped onto a very hard surface. If you are just learning to hand spin on a drop spindle, I recommend starting with one of our completely wooden drop spindles with wooden whorls. :)
