Foraging Wild Dye & Medicine | Eco-printing Cloth and Natural Dyeing Yarn with Goldenrod

Golden in the glen,
Golden, golden, golden
September's here again!
Golden in the tree tops,
Golden in the sky—
Golden, golden, golden
September's going by!"
~Poem by Annette Wynne

Join me on a little journey through the rolling hills and grassy fields of Kentucky's Appalachian countryside in early autumn. Here I source and pick some beautiful seasonal flowers from around the homestead, to use for eco-printing and dyeing- of course leaving some for our pollinator friends!

The Goldenrod (Kentucky 's state flower) is used to dye some 100% wool yarn skeins a rich golden yellow. Being a valuable and plentiful native plant, Goldenrod (Solidago) is also important to keep in your herbal medicinary. I have preserved fresh Goldenrod flowers using a high-proof clear grain alcohol in a sterile glass jar- over time this will become a potent tincture to use as needed for such things as seasonal allergies, colds and flus, inflammation releif, and even fighting infection. The remainder of the Goldenrod will be dried for teas and infusions.

Thank you for joining me in my journeys- I hope this video gives you some peace, joy, and knowledge. I hope you subscribe to my channel and visit me again for more videos sharing ancient crafts, off-grid lifestyle, and hygge cabin atmosphere.
